Suggestion! "Hwang Jin Yi" (Korean TV Show)

This weekend I watched a Korean show named Hwang Jin Yi. It aired in 2006 and I believe it was based on a true story of a gisaeng who lived during the 1500s. I am unfamiliar with the story, but I do plan to look into it.

I've only watched the first episode (on Hulu) and that first episode alone has made me a fan.

This episode immediately puts focus on our main character, a young Hwang Jin Yi (called simply "Jin Yi" throughout the episode). Jin Yi is a determined and spirited young lady who lives in a temple with other children so that she may become a nun. However, Jin Yi's spirit is certainly too free and too ambitious to be confined to the life of a nun. She reminds me of Ariel from The Little Mermaid. However, there is one key difference between Ariel and Jin Yi. The outside world that Jin Yi feels so different and separated from is actually closer to her than she knows....

I hope you watch the show--it has English captions by the way.

If you do watch it, let me know what you think!
