Happy 74th Birthday to one of Hollywood's pioneering legends, Mrs. Nancy Kwan!
Nancy Kwan was born on May 19, 1939 in Hong Kong to an architect (Kwan Wing Wong) and a model (Marquita Scott).
Mrs. Kwan, a classically trained ballerina, was discovered by Ray Stark while studying dance at the Royal Ballet School in London. The producer gave her the starring role in his film The World of Suzie Wong (1960), the film that would make her an overnight star, sex symbol, and immediate trailblazer. Mrs. Kwan continues to serve as a screenwriter and executive and she continues blazing trails as an advocate for Asians/Asian-Americans in Hollywood.
