Tonight I plan to watch this 1939 film Paradise in Harlem starring Frank H. Wilson, Mamie Smith and many others. It's a low-budget "race film" (films created with an all-black cast target directly towards black audiences during the early years of Hollywood film) and I expect there to be a lot of fuzziness and perhaps a little bit of stereotyping.
However, it's all a part of our history and I am looking forward to sitting back and watching this tonight! Francine Everett is also in this film and I'm really looking forward to seeing some of her work.
